#43: Fulfilling The Dream: Three Separate ITL Teams Compete Against One Another!
This year, the Iron Taekwondo League (ITL) has become just that: a league.
In the Malta Taekwondo Association’s (MTA) first session of test matches, held on Wednesday 28th February, the club fielded three separate teams, operating within the enterprise itself. These were:
ITL
ITL Chiswick
ITL St Edward’s College
One separate ITL branch from Chiswick House School (CHS) fielded four players, while another, from St Edward’s College (SEC), fielded two.
All six players took part in a series of test matches together with the ITL club itself (fielding no less than 27 athletes) and another three athletes from Dragon Club Malta. A couple of our CHS and SEC players even bagged a win.
You can check out the results by clicking here.
Both school teams had been preparing for the event for just over two semesters, operating on their premises.
The inclusion of these teams added a welcomed variety and excitement to the event because ITL fielded nine times more athletes than the next club.
This ITL Outreach Programme was designed to teach schoolchildren the Korean art of Taekwondo, with the scope that they can enter the competitive fray.
With the addition of new athletes into the competitive mix, this measure would effectively solve the problem prospective athletes in Malta face: the lack of competitors.
Thanks to this measure, more athletes are now entering the competitive scene, in Malta.
