1st Kup | Black Tag
Opposite to white, black signifies maturity and proficiency in Taekwondo. It also indicates the wearer’s imperviousness to darkness and fear.
2nd Kup | Red Belt
Red signifies danger cautioning the student to exercise control, and also warning the opponent to stay away.
3rd Kup | Red Tag
Blue signifies the Heaven, towards which the plant matures into a towering tree as training in Taekwondo progresses. Red signifies danger cautioning the student to exercise control, and also warning the opponent to stay away.
4th Kup | Blue Belt
Blue signifies the Heaven, towards which the plant matures into a towering tree as training in Taekwondo progresses.
5th Kup | Blue Tag
Green signifies the planet's growth as Taekwondo skills begin to develop. Blue signifies the Heaven, towards which the plant matures into a towering tree as training in Taekwondo progresses.
6th Kup | Green Belt
Green signifies the planet's growth, representing how Taekwondo skills begin to develop in a student.
7th Kup | Green Tag
Yellow signifies the earth from which the plant sprouts and takes root as the Taekwondo foundation is being laid. Green signifies the planet's growth as Taekwondo skills begin to develop.
8th Kup | Yellow Belt
Yellow signifies the earth from which a plant sprouts and takes root as the foundations of Taekwondo are laid.
9th Kup | Yellow Tag
The 9th Kup is the first level achieved after the White belt. White signifies 'innocence'. The state where one has no prior knowledge of Taekwondo.
