#77: ITL Trains In Tirana: The Challenge III Camp

Nine ITL players, with the youngest being just seven years, attended the third edition of the Tirana Challenge training camp, organised by a host of renowned coaches.

The ITL team together with coaches Julian Caca (ALB) and Yusuf Ekin (TUR).

The team was led by Czarek Odlanicki, who recently competed in Belgium at -87 kg and won gold. Accompanying him was Fergeson Galea (who also won bronze in Belgium) and a team of youngsters including brothers Dwayne and Dias Micallef, Emma Law Lautier, Nina Gellel, Emma Gellel, Dailen Barbara and Oliver Gatt.

The camp kicked off on Friday 21st February at the beautiful Grand Blue Fafa Resort, situated right beside the Adriatic Sea. This was where the ITL team began meeting other players from Albania, Montenegro, Greece, Macedonia, Germany, Kosovo, Turkey and Ireland.

The coaching committee spearheaded three groups: children, cadets and juniors/seniors. And the training was led by Albanian coach Julian Caca, who was the lead organiser of the camp, together with Turkish coach Yusuf Ekin.

Bi-daily training ensued on the Saturday, during which time the team got to spar, in volume, with other competitors in the camp, of whom were of formidable form.

The camp concluded on Sunday 23rd, followed by a brief get-together, and customary exchange of t-shirts and kits.

Together with their accompanying parents and friends, all ITL athletes had a wonderful time, made unforgettable memories, and formed meaningful connections as they continue their taekwondo journey together.

For a second time, ITL thanks Julian for hosting our team at his incredible event; and for his (and his team’s) generous hospitality, kind attention and careful planning. We look forward to attending again.
