Schedule & Rules

Presentation (08:30 - 08:40)

The competition will open with a presentation by club director: Gianluca Barbara.

Team Poomsae, Exhibition (08:40 - 09:00)

Following the presentation, there will be a demonstration of five synchronised team poomsae:

  • Kids, Team Poomsae 1 (Taeguk I)

  • Kids, Team Poomsae 2 (Taeguk II)

  • Kids and Cadets, Team Poomsae 3 (Taeguk IV)

  • Juniors and Seniors, Team Poomsae 4 (Taeguk VIII)

  • Exhibition Poomsae by Master Jovo Mirkovic (Cheongkwon)

Poomsae Competition (09:00 - 10:00)

Contestants will be called to the field of play two at a time. The winner of the first round will be determined based on the performance of the first poomsae selection. The winner of the next round will be determined based on the performance of the second poomsae selection. The winner of the third, and final, round will be determined based on the performance of both poomsae done after each other on the field of play.

A medal and certificate will be awarded to the first, second and third-placed athletes in the competition.

A participation certificate will be awarded to all players.

Sparring Exhibition Showcase (10:00 - 12:15)

  • Every athlete is required to be present in full Dobok with their own protective equipment. There will be no PSS system used, and thus, no score.

  • Matches will be controlled by an in-house referee.

  • Volunteer coaches (advanced athletes) will guide the competing kid and cadet athletes.

  • Refereeing will be managed by club coaches; Gianluca Barbara (ITL), Jovo Mirkovic (ITL), Czarek Odlanicki (ITL) and Mauro Busuttil (STC).

  • All players will receive a certificate for participation.

The kids and beginner cadets will take place with standard World Taekwondo Rules. These matches will have two rounds of 01:00 minute with 00:30 rest.

The advanced cadets, juniors and seniors (generally blue tag and over) will have a Team Sparring with standard Taekwondo Rules. Athletes will be split up into a ‘red team’ and a ‘blue team’, and fights will take place as follows:

  • First, there will be 01:30 rounds with a fair-weight counterpart of the other team.

  • Then, there will be a 10:00 round with quick-fire golden point system and free tagging allowed.

If time permits, a second round will take place, with the same system.

Breaking (12:15 - 12:45)

Following the final sparring bout, the competition floor will be cleared for breaking. Each athlete will perform a breaking with a technique of choice. This will take place using a 30 x 30 cm piece of wood of 1.5 - 2.5 cm thickness based on the difficulty of the technique, and the age of the participant.

The athletes will perform said techniques alone, with the help of their teammates who will be holding the wooden boards or through additional support.
