#81: ITL Poomsae Team Bags Three Medals In International Online Tournament

ITL’s poomsae team brought home three medals, including one gold, in the 4th Kyonggi University Online International Open Poomsae.

Coach Jovo Mirkovic, Fatma Azzam and Aliyah Labay.

The team was led by coach Jovo Mirkovic, who subsequently secured first place in his respective category (under 30 male) performing Koryo and Jitae.

Aliyah Labay together with Coach Jovo then won silver together in the PAIR under 30 with Taebek and Pyongwon.

Aaliyah also competed in the single category for female under 30 years and placed 10th with a high score of 6.365. Labay’s group was one of the more densely populated groups in the circuit.

Fatma Azzam netted the team’s third medal - silver - in the peewee female category performing Sa Jang and Yuk Jang.

The competition took place on Sunday 23rd March, with footage of the respective poomsae recorded on Tuesday of the week before at the ITL premises in Santa Venera.

This competition marked the second-ever competition undertaken by the ITL poomsae contingent, managed by coach Jovo. The first was at the Malta Invitational Games last November, a competition that saw Jovo walk away with a silver and cadet athlete Sinan Koruk, with gold in their respective groups.

On behalf of the ITL, we would like to congratulate the athletes and their coach for being a part of this event. The club will now host its In-House competition next weekend, to include various elements of poomsae as a showcase of the talent within the club.

All members are welcome to attend and even take part in this event!
